Stonefield Cellars Winery opened the tasting room doors in March of 2006 in the small town of Stokesdale, NC. The founders’ common love of wine and farming provided the foundation for the creation of a winery that provides a wide variety of high quality, award winning wines (dry white, dry red, semi-sweet, and sweet wine offerings) in a relaxed, rural setting close to the Piedmont Triad of Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem. Stonefield Cellars specializes in wine-making education (taught by Ph.D. Oenologist) and Event Management (the winery is available for private party rental such as weddings, corporate meetings, birthdays, etc.), including small to large community events from Girls Night Out to an outdoor concert series (every Friday night, June-September), as well as indoor Barrel Room concerts and other music-focused events. The beautifully landscaped gardens, patio and amphitheater, along with the indoor spaces of the winery’s Tasting Room and Barrel Room, all provide an inviting and relaxed environment in which to share the wine experience with one or many. Stonefield Cellars has become one of the most awarded, respected, and beloved wineries in the state of North Carolina.
Robert Wurz, President and Wine Maker
Robert Wurz, a California native, began making wine at an early age of fourteen in the basement of his parents’ home near Calistoga. He followed his passion for wine through college, where he earned a Ph.D. in Wine Chemistry from University of California – Davis. His experience with North Carolina’s grapes since 1999 has resulted in excellent wines, even from challenging vintages. Robert has expanded the Stonefield Cellars wine list to include wines made with varietals grown outside of North Carolina. Regardless of where the grapes (or other fruit) is grown, all of our wines are produced (from fermentation to bottling) on site.
Robert also teaches wine-making classes at Stonefield Cellars Winery in the Spring and Fall for hobbyists and beginner and intermediate wine makers.
Natalie Wurz, Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing
Natalie Wurz, a Georgia native, has called North Carolina home since 1989. Natalie’s diverse background includes a 20 year career in Biomedical/Pharmaceutical Research and Quality Assurance followed by 15+ years as a business owner in the wine and hospitality industry. As the co-owner, Vice-President, and Director of Sales and Marketing for Stonefield Cellars Winery in Stokesdale, NC, Natalie manages inside and outside sales and handles onsite and offsite special events, from festival sponsorships and participation to hosting of weddings, corporate meetings, private parties, winery concerts and jam sessions. Natalie also manages the winery staff and a large volunteer base. Natalie’s love of music, photography and the outdoors keep her busy in her spare time – when she is not working or playing music she’s off hiking, cycling, kayaking, and fishing!
Operations/Tasting Room Associate – Molly Elston
Molly brings a background in theater production and a passion for wine. With a diverse range of experiences from living and making art in big cities like New York City to small towns in Ohio and Illinois, she settled down in Manassas, VA to raise her family. In 2019, just before the start of the pandemic, Molly moved to North Carolina and is excited to get back out into the world by working at Stonefield Cellars, where everyone is treated like family.
Tasting Room/Operations Associate – Cathy West
Cathy is excited to join the team at Stonefield Cellars after retiring from 35 years as a full-time church musician in Greensboro. Since she and her husband Wally love visiting wineries, she decided that a second career at Stonefield was a perfect fit, especially with the abundance of live music here. When she’s not busy pouring wine, you may find her singing along at Tunes on Tuesday or an upcoming Soup and Sing!
Tasting Room Associate – Zizi Barhouma
Zizi Barhouma is a creative and community connector who first fell in love with Stonefield Cellars during her very first tasting back in 2006. Nearly twenty years later, she is happy to join the winery team and looks forward to sharing her passion for hospitality, wine, and community. With a background in marketing and event planning, Zizi has spent two decades creating memorable experiences that bring people together- often around live music, great food, and meaningful conversation. An avid traveler, she brings a global perspective to her work, while her roots in the local arts scene and nonprofit community keep her grounded and connected. Outside the winery, Zizi enjoys cooking, spending time with her family who recently moved to the neighborhood, and keeping up with her new puppy, Bojangles, who proudly holds the title of “certified bad boy.” Fluent in Spanish and always ready with a smile, Zizi is excited to learn and share Stonefield’s wines while welcoming both longtime members and first-time guests to the winery.

Tasting Room Associate – Erin Petty
Erin brings a wide range of experience to the Stonefield Cellars team – a degree in chemistry, years of customer service and salon management work, and living in Brazil for 2 years! Her love of wine, music, and her ability to never meet a stranger makes her an ideal fit for Stonefield Cellars. When she’s not working at the winery, Erin stays busy managing a household with 2 young boys, reading as many books as possible, gardening, and crocheting or knitting.
Tasting Room Associate – Erica Bennett
After spending decades visiting the area to see family, Erica made the life-changing decision to relocate to North Carolina in 2024 and officially put down roots in Rockingham County. With a successful career in marketing, she was ready for a new adventure that offered more connection, fresh experiences, and a more customer-facing role. That journey led her to join the team at Stonefield Cellars, where she’s enjoying being part of the local community.
Erica is the proud mom of her adult son, Will, and dog mom to her third Rhodesian Ridgeback, Pink. Outside of work, she loves anything creative, believing creativity is what fuels her soul. She’s also passionate about travel—especially to warm destinations—and is seriously considering getting another motorcycle to take full advantage of North Carolina’s longer riding season and near-perfect weather for the open road.
